Southern Comfort For The Foodie In You

EnVie [ahn-vē]: A French word used in southern Louisiana to express an intense craving, longing or desire for a delicious bite… the perfect name for a comfort food destination fueled by cravings for the authentic Cajun and Creole eats Louisiana Purchase introduced to Edmonton in 1989.

After over three decades of fine southern cooking, a new spot is ready to welcome you and share more of the comfort classics we all love. PlanetCom Creative were given the opportunity to express these delights through the medium of Web Design & Photography. We were able to showcase Envies fine foods with classic New Orleans colours, simple & modern stylization, and onsite food photography.

Food That Looks As Good As It Tastes

Onsite food photography has some challenges and adapting to the location was key. We used the marble slab tables and some cunning natural lighting to deliver a full menu photoshoot. Not only did we get to photograph the dishes served at Envie, but sat down and enjoyed the culinary delights with the staff, because when taking on a project we want to be part of the team and treat your business likes it’s our own… and eat your food.

A Savory User Experience

When hangry for food, the last thing you want to fight with is a cluttered website that hides the opportunity to order or see what’s on the menu. With that salivating short-tempered user in mind we wanted to deliver a fast, simple, responsive design with high quality images and quick links to their takeout service or menu. Delve a little deeper and you will find out about the colourful history of the food, links to their social media feeds, and other opportunities to get your lips around a full rack of Cola ribs (highly recommended btw!).

David Smith

Web & Graphic Designer

Hi my name is David, I originate from across the pond in the Mighty UK. When I’m not tapping away on a keyboard and staring into pixels, I like to work with my hands and butcher some wood, have a glass eye for amazing landscapes, wrestle with my rambunctious boys at home & occasionally mix it up on the Wheels of Steel. I love the constraints of design & thrive providing solutions to all kinds of problems, so challenge me… I dare you!

Fun Fact About Me

I met the queen, she is very small.

Nathan Labrecque

Web & Graphic Designer

Hey I’m Nathan, a graduate from MacEwan University’s Design & Digital Media Program with a passion for all forms of creative expression. Visual harmony invigorates me as much as its musical counterpart, and nothing floats my boat quite like a functional, intuitive, and tastefully designed digital experience… although cheesy catch-phrases and alliteration do come frighteningly close. When I’m not bending a plethora of pixels to my will, you’ll be sure to find me playing or listening to music, spending time with my wife & son, and sampling a tasty craft brew or two.

Fun Fact About Me

I spent a year living in Hollywood, California to attend music school for drum performance and if given the chance, I WILL talk your ear off about obscure progressive rock & metal bands.

Clark Park

Webmaster

As an obtainer of rare antiquities, I am enthusiastic about anything made in the ‘30s – ‘40s. When not in the office designing and coding for various projects, I can be found in remote jungles or lost cities looking for valuable treasures. In my down time, you just might spot me hovering around Edmonton fighting crime.

Fun Fact About Me

I worked as an illustrator for The Simpsons in South Korea before moving to Canada.
